RED FLAG WARNING for much of the area Wednesday from noon through 8 PM.
Windy and gusty conditions will persist for your Wednesday. The winds will also bring in some slightly cooler temperatures to Colorado, as well as some more cloud cover. Winds will be steady 20-30mph, with gusts over 40mph. And because of the dry air that will be in place, the fire danger will be high.
Besides the wind on Wednesday, the weather for the rest of the week will be fairly quiet. Temperatures will stay steady with winds lighter each day and partly sunny skies.
The weekend will be similar to the past couple, where the first half is fairly decent, then spotty showers and cooler air arrive for the second half. Right now, the exact details aren't fine tuned, but we are looking at a few showers on Sunday, with temperatures dropping off again. The big thing that sticks out to me today is that the computer models are increasing the winds significantly for the weekend. Models want to increase the wind to 30-35mph, with gusts 50+. We'll be watching that as we get closer.
Be careful around sparks and fires tomorrow with the Red Flag Warning... Meteorologist Valerie Abati
