US AIR FORCE ACADEMY - The woman accused of setting fires in an Air Force Academy dormitory told investigators she started them because she felt upset, lonely and depressed.
Michelle Smith, 38 was was formally charged Tuesday with four counts of arson. All of the fires were started in Sijan Hall where Smith worked as a janitor.
The first two happened on November 30 in a common area and in a janitorial closet. The other two happened on December 4 and were set inside two separate trash compactor rooms.
All of the fires were quickly extinguished. However, the dormatory, which houses upto two-thousand cadets, had to be evacuated both times.
