The former executive director of a Jefferson County children's advocacy group has been convicted of stealing $20,000 from the organization and police have issued a warrant for her arrest.

Cheryl Fugett of Denver was found guilty Thursday of eight counts of theft and two counts of forgery for taking money from the Jefferson County Children's Alliance between December 2003 and February 2007. Authorities say she used the money for work on her pool, a hot tub, dental work and to pay her daughter's college tuition.

Fugett was arrested in Coos County, Oregon, in March and extradited to Colorado. She did not appear in court Thursday and authorities are searching for her.
