Woman dead after wounding Denver deputy

DENVER (AP) - A woman is dead after shooting one of two Denver sheriff's deputies serving a warrant at a home near downtown.

Police spokesman Sonny Jackson told The Denver Post (http://bit.ly/11fiYVH) that the woman shot one of the deputies in the hand when she answered the door Wednesday morning. The other deputy then shot and killed the woman.

Jackson says the deputies were trying to serve her with a warrant for burglary, assault and harassment.

The wounded deputy was listed in fair condition at a Denver hospital Wednesday evening.

No names were immediately released.
