Woodland Park mayor resigns after being charged with child sex abuse

WOODLAND PARK - David Turley has resigned as Mayor of Woodland Park, according to the Woodland Park City Manager.  Turley was arrested and charged with Sexual Assault on a Child by One in a Position of Trust, a Class 4 Felony, back in May.  In Turley's letter of resignation, the former mayor professes his innocence and says that he'd like to continue as mayor, but can't focus all of his attention on his duties.

While it would be my preference to continue my service as the Mayor of Woodland Park, the reality is that given the allegations me and the legal constraints placed upon me I cannot continue to provide the attention to the City of Woodland Park that it so richly deserves.

Turley's resignation is effective immediately.
