Woodland Park Police Shooting Suspect Identified

Woodland Park, CO - Investigators with the Fourth Judicial District Attorney's Office are conducting an investigation into an officer-involved shooting that occurred yesterday in Woodland Park, Colorado. At 2:26 pm, Officers with the Woodland Park Police Department stopped a vehicle on eastbound Highway 24 that had just left Walmart. While officers were talking to the driver, it was discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Colorado Springs. As the officers attempted to detain the driver, he attempted to flee, striking one of the officers with the vehicle. Shots were then fired at the driver, who was struck by gunfire. He was transported to Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, where he later died. The driver has been identified as 20 year old Craig Bondo of Colorado Springs. The police officer involved in the shooting has been placed on routine administrative leave.
