Work to forge a singe health bill

The closed-door effort to craft a final health care bill for the Senate to consider continues today with a goal of getting a bill to the Senate floor by the last week of the month.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid acknowledges that it's a balancing act -- trying to combine different bills into one that can make it through the Senate.

Reid says he wishes the Senate could pass a perfect bill but that's not possible. Republicans say they know the bill Democrats decide on will result in higher taxes and premiums.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch Mcconnell says Republicans won't allow any health care overhaul to be rushed through. He says there needs to be time to read the bill and get an accurate picture of its costs.

Reid says the GOP's real goal is to kill any reform measure.
