Worms wiggle into classroom curriculum

Students in 4th and 5th grade at Stratmoor Hills Elementary School will dig through clumps of compost and dirt Thursday as they learn more about science and worms. The school, where nearly 80 percent of students are from low-income households, partnered with University of Phoenix and the Catamount Institute to provide families with an innovative after school program that will help students increase interest in their studies by introducing them to a fun learning environment.

The Young Environmental Stewards program will include students participating in various experiments. The YES Club is an award-winning after-school program that combines environmental science, community service, technology and leadership, at Stratmoor Hills Elementary School.
