Wrong-way driver dies in a rollover accident

A wrong-way driver died after trying to over-correct his 1997 Jeep Wrangler.

According to Colorado State Patrol, around 2:00 p.m. Ben Buschman, 56, of Colorado Springs was driving southbound in the northbound lane of Powers and Grinnell Street, when the jeep crashed south of the intersection.

Investigators say Buschman tried to get back into the northbound lanes when he over-corrected the vehicle and went down an embankment. Buschman was ejected from the jeep.
He was taken to Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced.

The Colorado State Patrol will continue to investigate to see whether alcohol played a factor in this accident. Powers is back open after being shut down for several hours in both directions.
