You can buy an historical home, but there's a catch

If you are looking for a new home and not looking to spend a lot. The City of Golden has a FREE house for you, but it comes with a catch. If you want it, you'll have to find somewhere else to put it.

The Colorado School of Mines is clearing the way for its new Welcome Center, which will be located at 18th and Illinois streets, according to the City of Golden.

The home located there is considered an important piece of history by the Historic Preservation Board. In order to preserve it, city officials persuaded the school to give the 935 square-foot home to whoever can move it. "The house has to go and the Golden Historic Preservation board thought it would be a great idea if we could find a home for this house," said Rick Muriby, Planning Manager for the City of Golden.

There are specific insurance requirements to follow regarding exactly how the house needs to be moved, and it must be done by mid-May.

"If there are no takers, unfortunately, the house will be demolished," Muriby said.

If interested, contact Rick Muriby, Golden Planning Manager, at 303-384-8098 by April 1, 2014.

A brick home in Golden is being sold for practically free, if you'll move it somewhere else.
