CDOT is gearing up for the impending storm, scheduled to hit the Pikes Peak region later this afternoon and continue through Friday.
CDOT maintenance crews are scheduled to begin snow-shift in El Paso, Teller and Park counties at 4 p.m. today, according to spokesman Bob Wilson.

We started the day with most of the eastern plains shut down by blizzard conditions. I-76 has reopened, while I-70 remains closed.
I-25 is closed from Wellington to the Wyoming border. Roads east of Colorado Springs and Pueblo are open.
Blizzard conditions forced the closure of I-70 from Denver to the Kansas border Thursday morning. The road has now reopened.
C-DOT used snowplows and sand trucks to clear the road.
