The panhandling ban in downtown Colorado Springs means bad news for Salvation Army bell ringers.
Volunteer bell ringers have been booted off the corner of Pike's Peak and Tejon St. since the kettle drive is considered solicitation. They'll still be bell ringing elsewhere in the city and county.

The Pueblo Salvation Army has been inundated with requests for toys for needy children this holiday.
Last year the Pueblo Salvation Army provided toys for 850 children. This year there are requests for around 2,100 children. So far fewer than half those needs have been met.

Some familiar bells will be ringing next week as the Salvation Army's Kettle drive gets underway for the 2009 holiday season.
