The DU series win may have made CC hockey's season, but the players and coaches arent satisfied. They've set their sights on the next step. Because just making the WCHA Final Five isn't good enough.
"It does give us huge confidence," forward Andrew Hamburg said Tuesday, "That we can do pretty much anything."
After a wild weekend in Denver, CC is one of the most dangerous teams in college hockey.
"It was a big game playing against our rivals," says defenseman Aaron Harstad. "So its even a bigger momentum shift, I think for us, than if it was a normal team. So yeah I think we're definitely hot at the right time."
The puck doesn't stop with Denver. No one expected the Tigers to make the Final Five, but just getting there isn't enough.
"We are the underdogs," says center Dody Bradley. "We don't have too much pressure on us. At the same time though, the whole year, we've been doubted, and we want to go and prove to everyone that we should be there."
The team standing in the way is North Dakota.
"We've played them well," Hamburg said. "We match up with their forwards pretty well. Hopefully we just keep playing our game, getting the puck low and taking it to them a little bit."
"I think it's another good matchup, just like denver. We kind of had their number all year, I mean, we should have won 3 out of 4 versus them. So I think we're really confident just like we were against Denver."
There would be a lot of happy people if it turns out just like Denver.
CC plays North Dakota Thusday at 6 p.m. MDT.
