One year after the devastating earthquake hit Japan, Debi Moore of Canon City still awaits her son's homecoming. Ty was in Japan doing missionary work when disaster struck. Despite fears of radiation, he has chosen to stay on his mission and continue to aid in the recovery.
Though Moore eagerly awaits her son's return, she says she does not expect his return anytime soon; she says he knows he is where he needs to be. "They haven't abandoned them. They did not leave them in their most desperate time of need," she explains. "We saw the need of those that stayed and pressed on and helped when so many people didn't want to get involved or were afraid to get involved. It has inspired us to encourage him even more. There is still a long ways to go in Japan."
