Posted 4:36 PM 10/10/2012 : Another garage burns on Pueblo's east side, suspicious fire meeting will be held tonight
A garage on Pueblo's east side was torched this morning.
It's in the same neighborhood that's been hit by a string of suspicious fires this year.
We've been following this story for you.
Over the past few months crews have been called out to around ten fires in the area of Hudson and Eerie, and tonight, the Fire Department plans to hold a meeting regarding the suspicious fires.
"It was pretty scary," said Connie Douglas, a concerned neighbor.
Neighbors' garages on both sides of Douglas have burned.
One a few months ago, and the other today.
"My carport was on fire," said Douglas. "I moved two cars out of there before the firemen got here."
People on the east side believe there's an arsonist.
"It's just been the last year or two, and it's too close around here," said Douglas. "It's just in this circle it seems like."
"The fires are very suspicious," said Chief Chris Riley of the Pueblo Fire Department. "This fire occurred in what we're calling the cluster of fires. The same area the fires have been occuring the last few months."
Many, like Douglas, are worried.
"They're not kidding around," said Douglas. "They're setting big fires. They're not just little."
She plans to take all valuables out of her garage just in case.
"It's got to be somebody who just doesn't have anything better to do and likes to destroy things," said Douglas.
That's why they planned the meeting in the first place.
They hope someone in the neighborhood has information.
"Our concern is, of course, the fires continue, and somebody would get hurt or seriously injured or what have you," said Chief Riley.
Douglas says there's no way they're all accidental.
"Happening too many times and in too specific places, in garages, in the alleys, and everybody is kind of afraid to leave if they're taking care of one of these houses," said Douglas.
So far, about ten fires have happened between Hudson and Erie on the east and west and between 8th and 4th Streets on the north and south.
The meeting is at six this evening at Risley Middle School on Monument Avenue.
